Premier Division

Iron Room A just edged themselves into top spot in the premier division with a 9-0 mauling of Chestfield Warriors 1, who were unable to contain Kevin Powell, Martin Hewitt and Keith Yarnley. All had 3 wins apiece for Iron Room whose dominance then spilled over into the doubles when they added a 3-0 win.
Although level on points in the league, a minor difference of just 2 legs pushed Hoath A down into 2nd place. A triple by Andy Roberts, and 2 wins each from Ian Mileham and Simon Rudland ensured a comfortable 7-2 victory for Hoath over Faversham A. With only 2 players available, Faversham called upon the services of Nicolas Waters from Division 1 in order to field a full team. Harry Law managed a win over Simon and Ian to earn the 2 points for his Faversham side, but Hoath emphasized their superiority with a 3-1 win in the doubles.
Heron B could offer little resistance to Herne Bay A, who strolled to a 7-2 home win. 3 wins each for Ron Rowley and Peter Roberts, plus 1 from Andy Cannon ensured the victory, with a win from Arthur Martin and Peter Chapman giving the Herons their 2 points. The away team’s singles disappointment was somewhat mollified when they eased to a pleasing 3-0 doubles result.

Division 1

With a positive 8-1 win over visiting Choughs A, and helped by favourable results elsewhere, Herne Bay B are the league leaders in Division 1 by 7 points. Vince Corbin (3), Steve Dawson (3) and Simon Lee (2) secured the 8 points for the Bays, but Russell Swain (1), playing up from Division 2, saved Choughs from a whitewash with an excellent win over Simon Lee. In the doubles, the Bay team cruised to a 3-0 win.
Chestfield Warriors 4 were in need of a convincing win to remain top of the league but lost 6-3 to Chestfield Warriors 3 and in doing so, slipped to 2nd place. In form Denis Cannon won his 3 matches for Warriors 3, supported by 2 from Roger Jordan and 1 by John Wickings. Adam Dyer did well to win 2 games for Warriors 4, with their 3rd point earned by Dirk Froebrich. The doubles match was a much closer affair, but the 3-2 result finally went in favour of Warriors 3.
Adam Goodall(3), Barrie Thomas (3), and Barry Cook (2) for Whitstable Natives A were just too strong for their guests Herne Bay E, winning this encounter 8-1. In the last singles game of the evening, Dave Thompson salvaged 1 point for Herne Bay with a close 3-2 win over Barrie Cook. However, the exuberant Natives went on to take a tight 3-2 win in the doubles.
Separated by 1 point and sitting in mid-table, the match between Faversham B and Herne Bay D was always going to be a close affair. The Bay side were only able to field 2 players and conceded 3 points, helping Faversham B to a 5-4 win. For the visitors, Keith Blackmore was unbeatable on the night, adding 3 points to the solitary win by Chris Howard. Nicolas Waters, playing his 2nd league match of the week, and Callum McDonagh, both won a game each for Faversham, who then concluded the evening with a 3-2 doubles win

Division 2

Chestfield Warriors 7 were merciless in this Division 2 match against club mates Chestfield Warriors 8. Aaron Hollingsworth, Linda Wickings and Jill Weaver all won their games to inflict a 9-0 whitewash over the luckless Warriors 8, who had to call on the assistance of Mark Dixon from Division 4 to provide a full team. Warriors 7 continued their success into the doubles match with a comfortable 3-0 win.
In another club derby match, Chestfield Warriors 6A found Chestfield Warriors 5 too strong, and went down 7-2. Steve Tebbett and Tony Morgan were unbeaten for Warriors 5, with Peter Paetow adding the 7th point. Colin Relf and Peter McCaig both managed a win over Peter Paetow, earning 2 points for their team but Warriors 5 then added a 3-1 doubles to their singles victory.
Choughs B welcomed a travelling Chestield Warriors 6 to their home venue and were pleased with a 6-3 win. Reuben Tozer was dominant in this match with his 3 wins, backed up by 2 from Joe Morgan and 1 from Joe Chan. Richard Bothamley, John Metcalfe and Bob Young all had a win each for the Warriors, whose disappointment was compounded by a 3-2 doubles win for Choughs.
Jim Burns (3), Graeme Sopp (2) and Graham Waters (2) eased Herne Bay F to a satisfying 7-2 victory over Faversham C whose 2 points came from a win each for Colin Blythe and Nick Wibberley. A hotly contested 3-2 doubles win finally fell in favour of the Bay team.

Division 3

Rowan Brough and Shaun Reid both had 3 wins for Chestfield Warriors 11 against bottom placed Herne Bay H in this Division 3 match, and with a further 2 wins by James Reid earned an 8-1 win for their team. The losing team had Josie Prowse to thank for their only point when she had a good 3-1 result over James. Encouraged by their singles win, Warriors went on to a 3-1 doubles victory.
Prior to the match between 3rd placed Herne Bay I and 4th placed Blean B, just 2 points separated the teams and the outcome was always going to be close. 3 wins for the unbeaten Simon Chambers and 2 from Al Parkes was enough to give the Bays a 5-4 result, with the 4 Blean points coming courtesy of 2 wins for Laurie Newman, and 1 each by Peter Cole and Alan Dilnot. Blean then succumbed to Herne Bay in the doubles, losing 3-1.
Another tight 5-4 match result was won by Chestfield Warriors 10, at home to Blean C. With Paul Matthews unavailable, Warriors called upon the support of Lewis Marsh from Division 4 to complete their team. Simon Howe (3) was the Warriors’ saviour and with 2 from Bernard Ebeck, edged the 5-4 win. Lewis, in his second match of the week played well, but was unable to overcome the more experienced Kevin West (2), Steve Sutton (1), and Keith Ackland (1) for Blean. The determined Warriors then went into the doubles to pinch a tense 3-2 win.
2 wins for Peter Tregar gave the home team of Whitstable Natives C their only points when they took on Choughs C. Jackie Fok, currently top of the averages in Division 3, continued his form with 3 wins, and with 2 from Richard Partridge and 2 from Dave Goddard, secured a convincing 7-2 result for the visiting Choughs. The doubles match was a lot closer, with Choughs adding a narrow 3-2 win to their singles success.
With his 3 wins, Alan Culver was the hero of the hour for Faversham D, and together with 2 wins each for Harry Hutchinson and Colin Floodgate eased to a 7-2 victory at home to Herne Bay G. Roger Townsin had the only success for Herne Bay with 2 wins for the away team, but Faversham proved to be just too strong in the doubles and nipped a 3-2 win.

Division 4

Top of the league Chestfield Warriors 16 suffered their 1st defeat of the season, beaten 3-2 at home by 3rd placed Herne Bay K. George and Lewis Marsh managed a win each for Warriors, but Robin Bozier’s 2 wins and a win in the match doubles with Glenn Reeve for Herne Bay, gave the Bay’s a close victory. The Warriors team had to fight hard to compensate their singles loss and won a tough competition doubles match 3-2.
Chestfield Warriors 18 welcomed club mates Chestfield Warriors 19 to their home table. Tim Platt won both his matches for the home side, but a win each for Paul Anthony and Mark Dixon, coupled with a close match doubles win, ensured a 3-2 victory for Warriors 19, who then rounded off their success with a comfortable 3-0 win in the competition doubles.
