Premier Division

Bottom of the league Heron B could do nothing to prevent a dominant Hoath A climbing back to the top spot in the premier division. Ian Mileham, John Ferguson and Simon Rudland for the visiting Hoath inflicted a 9-0 whitewash over Heron and then added a 3-0 doubles win to their singles victory.
Iron Room A pushed themselves into 2nd place in the Premier Division with a convincing 8-1 win at Faversham A. Kevin Powell and Russell Bates had 3 wins apiece, and with 2 from Martin Hewitt, secured their triumph. Harry Law for Faversham earned the solitary point for Faversham by beating Martin. Iron Room then cemented their victory with a 3-1 win in the doubles.
Hoath B slipped from 1st place to 3rd in the league despite a 5-4 win over their guests, Herne Bay A. Hoath had Richard Carden to thank for his 3 wins, and with 2 from Simon Hillier, edged a hard fought contest. The 4 points for the Bay’s came courtesy of 2 wins by Peter Roberts, and 1 each from Ron Rowley and Andy Cannon, with a 3-0 doubles win going to Hoath.

Division 1

Paul Whittaker, playing up from Division 2, won all his games for Chestfield Warriors 4, and aided by 2 wins from Adam Dyer, was instrumental in their excellent 5-4 victory when they travelled to Iron Room B. For the home team, Michael Lee (2), Steve Bispham (1) and Kevin Beasley (1) were just not quite strong enough, and their disappointment continued into the doubles, just nipped by the Warriors after the lead changed hands twice before resulting in a 3-2 win for the away side.
Iron Room C could only raise 2 players for their match at Herne Bay D. Despite having to concede 3 points, 3 wins for Geoff Jordan and 2 for Colin Sleap gave the Iron Room a 5-4 win over the Bay’s, for whom, Keith Blackmore won 1. The ensuing 5 leg doubles match also was eventually won by Herne Bay.
A good all round team performance saw Herne Bay B leave Chestfield Warriors 3 with a satisfying 6-3 away win. Vince Corbin, Simon Lee and Steve Dawson all won 2 games for the Bay, with Roger Jordan(2), and Denis Cannon (1) picking up 3 points for the Warriors, who then overcame their singles loss by winning a tense 3-2 doubles game.
For the second week running, Jonny Nevett won his 3 games for Chestfield Warriors 3A, and with 2 from Ricky Kay, and 1 from John Metcalfe playing up from division 2, led his team to a good 6-3 result over Whitstable Natives A. The visiting Natives were thankful for 2 wins from Barry Cook and 1 from Adam Goodall, but were overcome in the doubles, losing 3-1.

Division 2

2nd placed Whitstable Natives B could only field 2 players at home to top team Blean A, and with only 2 points separating the teams prior to this match, may prove to be costly. Blean won 6-3 thanks to 3 from Rob Easton, 2 from Paul Simmonds and 1 from Keith Ackland, playing up from division 3. 2 wins by Gordon Williams and 1 by Keith Garrad for Natives was not enough to prevent Blean from increasing their lead at the top to 5 points. However Natives were just too strong in a close doubles match, inflicting a consolation 3-2 win over Blean.
After his winning foray into Division 1, Paul Whittaker carried his form into the match between Chestfield Warriors 5 and Choughs B. His 3 wins for the Warriors, coupled with 3 from Steve Tebbitt and 1 from Dave Hanson, was enough to see off the challenge of the travelling Choughs and produced a comfortable 7-2 result. A win each from Joe Morgan and Reuben Tozer earned the Choughs points, who then rounded off the evening by surprising the Warriors with a 3-2 doubles win.
Chestfield Warriors 6 welcomed fellow clubmates Chestield Warriors 7 to their home table. The 6-3 result for Warriors 6 came from 3 wins by John Metcalfe, 2 by Bob Young and 1 from Richard Bothamley, and proved to be too much for their guests. 2 wins from Linda Wickings and 1 by Aaron Hollingsworth for Warriors 7 gave them their 3 points, followed by a pleasing 3-1 doubles win.

Division 3

3rd from bottom in Division 3, Chestfield Warriors 11 went to play top of the league team, Blean C. Against all the odds, the Warriors side were overjoyed to come away from this encounter with a 5-4 win. Blean were thankful for 2 wins by Kevin West and 1 each for Keith Ackland and Dave Mason. With his 3 wins, Shaun Reid was undefeated, and with the singles score at 4-4 James Reid came through, beating Keith Ackland for his 2nd win of the match, thus securing an excellent result for Warriors. Salt was rubbed into the wound when the Warriors eased to a comfortable 3-0 doubles win over the shocked Blean team.
With only 2 players available, Blean B were always on the back foot against Chestfield Warriors 10 who took full advantage and left with 6-3 victory under their belt. Simon Howe (3), Bernard Ebeck (2) and Paul Matthews (1) earned the result for Warriors and Blean countered with 2 wins from Alan Dilnot and 1 from Peter Cole. A 3rd player for Blean may have made the singles result a lot closer as they went on to a clean 3-0 doubles win.
Bob Hassam, Bill Hackney and Caroline Hanson, all with 2 wins apiece, earned a good 6-3 win for Chestfield Warriors 9 against their opponents Whitstable Natives C. Peter Tregar came through with 3 for the Natives who were then somewhat comforted by a 3-0 win in the doubles.

Division 4

Only one match was played in Division 4. Linda Sopp and Val Rankin for Herne Bay J were unable to withstand the challenge of George and Lewis Marsh for Chestfield Warriors 16. The league leading Warriors romped home with a 5-0 away win, including the match doubles, and then added the competition doubles to round off their victory.
