The 2014/5 season is now underway and this season promises to be different to previous years as a lot of the action is taking place at a single venue, the new Warriors HQ, which is based on the Joseph Wilson Estate, Whitstable. In addition to all the Warriors teams this is now the home venue for the Heron teams, Hoath teams and Whitstable Natives teams.

John and Linda Wickings have put an enormous amount of effort into securing this venue and along with helpers from around the league they have transformed an industrial unit into a bespoke table tennis venue with four tables, Sky sports TV, free wi fi and a licensed bar. The venue is open daily and available for practice but please be sure to call ahead and book.

In the Premier division this week Hoath A entertained Iron Room A and despite three excellent wins for Hoath’s Phil Thomas the away team won 5/4. Hoath B were also in action against Choughs A and this time the home team won 5/4, Alan Taylor winning all three for Choughs. Also in the Premier CW1 lost 6/3 to Herne Bay A although Connor Russell continues his great form with another three wins and Iron Room B beat Heron B 5/4, the in form Peter Chapman getting two good wins for the Natives side.

In Division 1 Faversham A beat CW2 5/4 and CW3 beat Natives A 5/4 thanks to an Adam Dyer treble. Division 2 saw CW5 beat CW6 by 5/4 with Linda Wickings winning all three and Faversham B beat Choughs C 5/4 thanks to a Nicolas Waters treble. The other match played in this division was a 8/1 win for CW4 over CW7.
Just one game reported in Division 3 which was an 8/1 win for Natives B over Herne Bay F.

Finally, as some players will know, our league president Barry Chapman has decided to revert back to his youth and is being seen out with jet black hair and wearing his chain of office in the best gangsta style. There is a prize of a quality bottle of wine for the best caption accompanying a snapshot of the trendy president, now known as the rapper GangstaBaz.
