The first round of the Dare Cup handicap tournament took place last week with three of the matches being decided by very close margins. The closest of these was the match between CW3 and Herne Bay G where the 1st Division trio of John Wickings, Kell Davies and Dirk Froebrich won by just 6 points over their Division 3 opponents after conceding a 208 points start.

Premier Division CW1 took on Premier rivals Choughs A who were playing up Division 2 player David Cooke and so received a 58 point start. A very close match could have gone either way but in the end the CW1 team ran out winners by just 8 points.

Another close finish was the 10 point victory by Natives A over Choughs D with Natives Adam Goodall continuing his current excellent league form by winning all six of his sets.

Other close matches played were a 26 point victory for Faversham C over Natives B and a 36 point victory for Blue Lawn over CW4 thanks to a maximum from Blue Lawn’s Kevin Kay.

Those games with a higher points victory were the 93 point win for Blean C over Herne Bay I, a 106 point victory for Blean Bravo over Choughs E and a 124 point win for CW9 over Blean Lions. Also through to the next round are Herne Bay J whose opponents Choughs G failed to turn up on the night.
