With the Canterbury table tennis season seemingly going on even longer than our current everlasting winter some of the title winners and promotion prospects are still too close to call. In the Premier division the two leading teams are Hoath A and Iron Room A, both on 89 points after twelve matches played, but Hoath have the advantage of fewer games against. However with Barry Chapman suffering from tennis elbow it will be a tight finish.

In Division 1 the leaders are Herne Bay C but last week played second placed CW2 and lost 5/4 despite the Warriors side fielding just two players in the absence of Denis Cannon. Steve Cannon won all three for the Warriors side and they now have a realistic chance of catching the Bay team if they manage to win all their remaining games.

Division 2 is definitely a two horse race with second placed Blue Lawn slight favourites to overtake Faversham A who are currently top but have played one game more. In Division 3 the Faversham D team are looking increasingly likely to overtake CW6 for the top position being ten points behind but having played four games fewer.

In Division 4 the winners are almost certain to be CW9 with the runners up place being contested between Herne Bay J and Choughs F.

There are a few games reported from last week with Premier Division Hoath B beating Iron Room B 6/3 and Hoath A trouncing CW1 8/1. In Division 1 CW2 beat CW3 5/4 despite yet another treble from Connor Russell who also took Denis Cannon’s unbeaten record in four sets. Also in Division 1 Natives A beat Choughs C 5/4 thanks to an Adam Goodall treble and Warriors 4 had a good 6/3 win over Warriors 3.

In Division 2 a Jill Weaver treble helped CW6 beat Faversham C 6/3 and a Jordan Brooker treble gave Choughs D a 5/4 win over Herne Bay F. In Division 3 Blean C beat Blean D 5/4 with Kevin West winning all three games and in Division 4 CW10 beat Choughs F 3/2.
