There were just six matches reported as played this week throughout all five divisions, plus one rearranged Premier game from early January between Hoath B and Hoath C. The match between the two mid table Hoath teams resulted in a 5/4 win for the C team thanks to three fine wins for the vastly improved Simon Hillier. Phil Thomas weighed in with two wins for the C team but was unable to overcome the flat hitting game of Mike Howard, losing deuce in the fifth set. The third C team member Mike Chapman was unlucky to lose two games in five sets, particularly after being two sets up against Chris Hearn, but was worn down when Chris brought his big weapon into play.

In the two other reported games Premier leaders Iron Room A beat bottom team Heron A 9/0 and Choughs A lost 4/5 to Iron Room B.

In Division one the leaders Herne Bay C suffered a surprising 6/3 loss to Heron B with Herne Bay’s Giulio Guariglia losing all three of his games and Peter Chapman for the Heron team winning all three. Ian Blogg weighed in with two good wins but was unable to overcome the attacking play of Bill Baxter, losing in three sets.

Division two saw ninth placed Blean Lions overcome third placed Blean A 5/4 with Robert Easton winning all three for the Lions while in Division three Herne Bay I overcame Blean D 5/4, Bay’s Paul Messenger winning all three. The final game reported was another Blean side with Blean C taking on CW6 and winning 5/4 thanks to a Kevin West treble, Len Pavelin responding with two wins for the Warriors team.
