Canterbury and District Table Tennis Association

As we approach the Christmas break the various divisions are starting to show a clear gap between the leading teams and the chasing pack. In the Premier division Hoath A have a clear lead over Herne Bay A in second place but with Iron room A in third place having played one game fewer than the Bay team.

In Division 1 the leaders are Herne Bay C with Iron Room C and Warriors 2 tied in second place on identical points and Division 2 sees the Blean A team leading from Blue Lawn but with Blean having played three games more than their nearest rivals.

Division 3 is led by Warriors 6 who have played two games more than nearest rivals Faversham D and in Division 4 the runaway leaders are Warriors 9 with Choughs F in second.

Some interesting clashes this week saw Premier leaders Hoath A rout their B team by 8/1, the sole success for the B team coming from Mike Howard and the same scoreline in the top of the table clash between Iron Room A and Herne Bay A with Ron Rowley gaining the sole Bay success in beating Ray Jordan thanks to his frequent use of Derek Trotter style French phrases .The only other Premier games played were a 5/4 win for Heron A over Warriors 1 and a tense 5/4 win for Choughs B over Hoath C, with Alan Provan winning all three for the Choughs side and Mike Chapman gaining his sole win for Hoath after an energy giving feast of six ringed doughnuts .

In Division 1 Herne Bay D beat Warriors 4 by 5/4 and Choughs C beat Warriors 3 by the same score. Division 2 saw a good win by leaders Blean A over Herne Bay E 7/2, both Pete Maton and Paul Simmons with trebles and Warriors 5 beat second placed Blue lawn by 5/4 thanks to a Jacob Midson treble.

Division 3 saw Warriors 6 beat Warriors 7 by 7/2 thanks to yet another treble from Jill Weaver who is having an excellent season and Blean C beat Warriors 8 6/3 with three wins from Kevin West. The only game played in Division 4 saw leaders Warriors 9 beat Choughs F 5/0 with both Jonathan Nevitt and Mano Sathyamurthy continuing their fine form for the Warriors team.
