Canterbury and District Table Tennis Association
Cup week commencing 26/11

There were just five matches reported this week, three in the Lew Vale individual handicap competition and two in the team handicap Dare Cup.
In an all first division clash in the Lew Vale Cup Herne Bay D were at home to the rapidly improving Warriors 3 team and lost to the Warriors by twelve games to eight. Another all first division clash between Warriors 2 and Choughs C saw a comprehensive 17/3 victory for the Warriors team, although the games themselves were closer than the score implies. The third Lew Vale match was between first division Heron B and second division Blue Lawn with the first division side winning by eleven games to four, with the last singles and doubles not played.

In the team handicap Dare cup matches the first game played was between division 4 Herne Bay J and division 2 Warriors 5 with the Warriors team catching up the handicap after just four matches and running out easy winners by a margin of 114 points. The second Dare cup match was a much closer affair with Whitstable Natives B beating Warriors 6 by the narrowest of margins. At the end of the nine singles games the Natives pair needed to restrict their opponents to just 23 points in the two sets of doubles and won 25/7 and 25/12, beating the unlucky Warriors by just 3 points.

A full league programme resumes next week with just three more scheduled weeks play before the Christmas break and team captains are requested to try to play all postponed games before the second half of the season starts in mid January.
