Canterbury and District Table Tennis Association

Week commencing 5/11/12

There were two matches played in the Premier Division this week with top of the table Hoath A entertaining the Choughs B team and Iron Room B home to Choughs A. The match at Hoath proved a resounding 8/1 win for the home side with Nick Owen gaining the sole point for Choughs after a four set win over Andy Roberts. The other match was a closer result, Choughs A winning 6/3 over Iron Room despite a treble from Mebs Virani who was in top form having scoured his shelves for energy boosting vitamins prior to the match.

In Division 1 the leaders Herne Bay C met Heron B with both teams fielding just two players, the Bay team winning 6/3. Whitstable Natives A met Herne Bay D winning 7/2 with trebles from Adam Goodall and Barry Thomas. The other games played in this division being an 8/1 win for Iron Room C over Warriors 4 and an 8/1 win for Warriors 2 against Choughs C, with Andy Murray impersonator Steve Cannon winning all his games without dropping a single set.

Division 2 leaders Blean A met Blean Lions and ran out the winners by 6/3 thanks to three wins from Derek Whidett and second placed Herne Bay G won 7/2 against the Bay F team with trebles from both Mal Peaks and Jim Burns. The third match in this division was between Herne Bay E, playing with just two players, and Warriors 5, the Bay team winning 5/4 thanks to three wins from Frank Carlucci.

Division 3 also had three matches played, all fairly close contests, with Warriors 7 losing 5/4 at home to Herne Bay H, Warriors 8 winning 6/3 against Natives B despite Gordon William’s three wins for the Natives and Warriors 6 beating Blean C although Dave Mason won all of his games for the Blean team.
