The key game in the Premier division last week was the long awaited clash between champions,Hoath A and arch rivals,Herne Bay A.
Before this game the Bay trailed Hoath by 4 points but had played two games more, while Hoath were 4 points behind Iron Room but had two matches in hand over them as well.
Hoath began well with Barry Chapman sweeping past Andrew Cannon in 3 comfortable sets, but the in form Ian Gordon was taken to the wire by Ron Rowley before emerging winner in the 5th set.
The meeting of the two Roberts went the way of Peter, who was untroubled in his 3-0 win.
Gordon pushed Hoath into a 3-1 lead as he eased past Cannon without dropping a set,but the next 3 games proved crucial to both sides.
Chapman made no impression on Roberts, losing in straight sets, while Rowley served up the same on Andy Roberts.
The battle of the undefeated saw Peter Roberts contain Gordon and make victory in 4 sets and now Bay were leading 4-3.
Andy Roberts and Cannon fought out a magnificent 5 setter that saw the Hoath man scrape it in the decider to level the match at 4-4.
Chapman had beaten Rowley in the first half of the season but the Bay man was determined to extract revenge and weathered the challenge to carve out a 3-1 win to give his side a 5-4 win and put a little pressure on the champions.
Hoath are now level on points at the top with Iron Room A but both sides meet this week in what will be a highly crucial fixture for both.

Division 1 also saw a very significant match take place with the meeting of the top side,Choughs B and Iron Room B.
Prior to the game Choughs were two points ahead of Iron Room so an emphatic victory was essential to both sides.
Stephan Launois began brightly for Choughs, beating Keith Harris in straight sets but there followed an amazing sequence of wins for the Iron Room.
Russell Bates took out Roy Coles in 3 sets, while Michael Lee saw off Derek Smith in 4 sets.
Bates maintained his form, beating Launois in 3 sets, while Harris and Smith battled out a 5 set marathon before Harris got the decider, putting Iron Room 4-1 ahead.
Choughs hit back through Coles, who made short work of Lee in 3 sets, but Bates completed a treble by beating Smith in 3 sets.
Choughs were not finished yet,as Launois went past Lee in 3 sets and in the final game of the night,Coles made sure that defeat was limited to a minimum by beating Harris in 3 sets.
Iron Room kept their interest in the doubles league with a 3-1 win.
The 5-4 win in the singles keeps Iron Room a point behind Choughs, who are still top but with Heron A now 2points behind Iron Room this division is set for an interesting finale, with Rough Common still in contention with 3 games in hand over the top two but 17 points adrift of Choughs.
