CANTERBURY & DISTRICT TTA PRESS REPORT 24/11/2011

Three sides remain without victories in Division 2
Of these sides, Blean Lions came closest to a win in their match against Choughs C
Barry Hull saw off the challenge of Roy Baker in 5 sets but Choughs reeled off the next 3 ties to go 3-1 up
Hull stopped the rot with a 3-1 win over Russell Swain and Blean levelled through Peter Cole beating Heather Robertson in 5 sets.
Choughs regained the lead through Swain beating Alan Dilnot in straight sets and the next game between Peter Cole and Roy Baker proved crucial to the final result.
Both players shared the first 4 sets and it was Baker who came through in the deciding set to deny Blean a win.
Hull wrapped up the final tie against Robertson in 4 sets to give him a well deserved treble and his side their best result so far.
Choughs just managed a 5 set win in the doubles.
Just below Blean Lions and 6 points behind come Blean C.
This side has had to play 5 of the top 6 sides in their opening fixtures.
Outplayed by Faversham B in their opening game, they managed two points against Chestfield Warriors 3 and fared better against Herne Bay F,losing 3-6.
They failed to capitalise against a two man Herne Bay E side, losing 3-6 and their most recent loss was a 2-7 defeat to high fliers Chestfield Warriors 2.
The final struggling side in this division are Chestfield Warriors 4,who find themselves firmly rooted to the bottom of the table,1 point adrift of Blean C
Their 5 results have yielded just 9 points,of which six have come from John Metcalfe, two from Jill Weaver and one from Bob Hassam. Despite a very disappointing season last year this side stayed up in Division 2 but unless there is a radical change of fortune Warriors 4 seem certain to continue to struggle in the bottom three of the table.

Division 3 is currently dominated by three Chestfield Warrior sides.
At the top of the table come Warriors 7,with four wins from six, followed by Warriors 5,two points behind with 4 out of 6 wins.
Warriors 6 are in 3rd place,3 points behind and they have won 4 of their six games.
The threat to these sides comes from the experienced Blean D side, who are currently sitting in 4th place,4 points behind Warriors 6
Blean have beaten Warriors 7 and only just lost 4-5 to Warriors 5 and have Warriors 6 yet to play.Kevin West and Keith Ackland have been the key players in Blean’s challenge, winning 22 of the 27 points between them.
The two sides unbeaten in this division are surprisingly not in the top 3 but occupying 5th and 6th slots.
Dizzy Heights A have 26 points from 4 outings, thanks to the 100% record of Andrew Coleman. His performance has been outstanding in his side’s bid to push for promotion for the second season running. Having already beaten Warriors 6 and Blean D,Heights will be feeling confident in their forthcoming games against Warriors 5 and 7
