Group 1 qualification hopefuls,CW2,took a step nearer to the knockout stages of the Beckett Shield in their recent encounter against Dizzy Heights B.
John Wickings had to give Mark Greenstreet an 11 point start and was made to work hard in the first two sets before sealing victory in the third.
Linda Wickings had a one point start over Jake Coombes but was unable to find a way past him, losing in two sets.
Coombes had a two point advantage over John Wickings but it was not enough to make any impression on the older, experienced player and he lost in straight sets.
Greenstreet had a 8 point start over Linda Wickings but found it difficult to get past her defence and lost 2-0.
With a 5 point lead in the doubles the Heights took a set off CW2 but the Wickings proved too strong for their young opponents and clinched the decider and won 4-1 overall which keeps them in second place in their group.

The highly anticipated showdown between the two unbeaten sides in Group 2,Jams & CW8 Incredibles, took place recently. Both sides are already virtually assured of qualification so a victory for either side was more an issue of pride.
Sue Harris began promisingly for Jams, weathering a 6 point handicap against Adam Jones to carve out a 2-1 win.
Mark Walton had to give Connor Russell a 3 point lead and both players shared the first two sets. The final set was a close affair before Russell managed to take it.
Russell continued his good form against Mrs Harris, winning in two sets with a one point advantage.
Walton powered back for Jams to level the match with an emphatic 2-0 win over Jones despite a 8 point handicap.
The Jams pair had to give a 5 point start to their opponents and CW8 took full advantage of this to carve out a 2-0 win and an overall 3-2 win.
Jams are still top of the group,a point ahead of CW8.

CW9 are still top of Group 3,still unbeaten in six outings but face the third and fourth placed sides,Kayos and Magnum Force,in their last two qualification games.
CW3 are still in second place but their remaining 3 games are against teams in the bottom half of the group.
Pheasant Pluckers are in 5th place,3 points behind CW3 and are still in with a chance to qualify. Despite only two wins out of six they have two more games against sides below them,Choughs Other Team and Dizzy Heights A.
Both Choughs and Heights A have both only played three games so far and if they achieve good results they may upset the sides currently above them and steal qualification.
