As the qualification stage of the Summer league reaches the halfway
point the teams pushing for a place in the Beckett Shield are now emerging in the 3 groups.
Group 1’s undisputed leaders are Bazrack, unbeaten in 5 outings and they have opened up a 10 point lead at the top.
Their latest victims were CW6 Bearded Wonders. Bernard Ebeck used his 8 point advantage to take it to a deciding set against Barry Shirley but lost 1-2,while against Ricky Kay he went down in straight sets despite a a 12 point start.
Colleague Hakim Adi had a massive 20 point advantage over Kay but still lost in two sets but fared better against Shirley, winning in 3 sets with a 16 point advantage.
CW6 pulled off a surprising 2-1 win in the doubles but Bazrack got the 3-2 win which puts them on course for qualification.

In Group 2 two unbeaten sides head the group.
Jams have taken 13 points from 3 games while CW8 are just a point behind.
Both sides have yet to play each other but both have to play the team in 3rd place,1/2 Red,who have the same number of points as CW7 but played a game more.
CW4 and Choughs Owls occupy 4th and 5th position and these 5 teams are battling it out between themselves for qualification places.
