The quest for the Division 1 title seems to be going the way of Chestfield Warriors 1,but the sides below them have every intention of pushing them hard to the very end.
Herne Bay E were in no mood for complacency in their recent game against Iron Room B,a side that has always competed for a promotion slot but have never found the winning formula when needed.
Bay ruthlessly dismantled their opponents in the first 4 ties, with only David Cue taking Matt Newman to 5 sets and Michael Lee taking Vince Corbin to a decider.
Cue got the better of Chris Howard in the 5th set,but Bay stamped their authority in the next 4 ties, with only Howard being stretched to a 5th set by Keith Harris,to seal an 8-1 win, which takes them 5 points clear of rivals Herne Bay C,but played a game more than them.

Natives A,another 1st division side capable of a shot at promotion, produced some indifferent results in their last 3 games. Against Choughs B,Adam Goodall and Barrie Thomas scored good wins over Derek Smith and Roy Coles, but Barry Cook lost in 4 sets to Chis Hooper.
Smith bounced back to trounce Thomas in 3 sets, but Goodall put Natives ahead with a fine win over Hooper.
Coles added further to Cook’s woes with a 3-1 win and Hooper edged his side ahead with a 5 set win over Thomas.
Cook got his first win of the night at the expense of Smith but Goodall’s bid for a treble was blunted by Coles in 3 sets, giving Choughs B a 5-4 win.
The next game was against bottom side,Choughs C,a side they had beaten 8-1 in the first half.
Russell Swain played superbly to beat Cook 3-1 but Goodall replied strongly with a 3-0 win over Farouk Karim.
Colin Quinn drew Choughs ahead with a 3-2 win over Thomas but Karim failed again, losing to Cook in 4 sets.
Thomas eased past Swain in 4 sets and Goodall came through an awkward tussle against Quinn in 4 sets to put Natives 4-2 ahead.
Karim had to fight hard to get his first win of the match.a 5 set marathon against Thomas while Quinn needed 4 sets to beat Cook and level the match at 4-4.
Goodall’s bid for a treble came good this time as he got past Swain in 4 sets to just make a 5-4 win for his side.
Their recent game against Heron B should have posed more problems, having lost 2-7 to them in the first half, but heron were down to 2 players and only a win by Peter Chapman over Thomas prevented a whitewash.
Natives move into 4th place but they do not have enough matches to pose a threat to the top 3.

The closing date for entries to the Annual Tournament is Thursday 3rd March 2011.
Players wishing to enter should submit their entries immediately or contact the Organiser,Ron Rowley
