While Herne Bay continue to lead the Premier division with 5 wins from five games and 37 points,Choughs A emerged as contenders for a shot at the title after a run of four games that sees them in second place with 25 points.
In their opening game of the season they faced a Rough Common side that were looking for a good start to their campaign after the struggles of last season. They were in trouble immediately as the first three ties went to Choughs, including a significant win by Ashleigh Shaw over Michael Jones. The latter went on to beat Ian Cooke and Paul Waumsley but colleagues,John Hammond and Gary Smith, failed to register a win between them, although Smith lost in 5 sets to Cooke and in 4 sets to Shaw, giving Choughs a 7-2 win.
Against Iron Room A,Shaw was again the driving force for his side as he swept aside the challenge of Cliff Smallman,Paul Smallman and Colin May.Alan Taylor gave good support with two wins, losing to Cliff Smallman, while Waumsley added two wins for another 7-2 win.
Choughs continued their rampage with a comfortable win over Hoath C that saw Shaw storm to another hat trick, while Cooke and Alan Taylor added two each, both losing to Mebs Virani.
Their recent game was a showdown against leaders,Herne Bay A,a game that produced some amazing results. Shaw overcame Andrew Cannon in the opening tie in 4 sets but Cooke conjured up a 4 set win over Ron Rowley. Bay responded through Keith Clark, who beat Waumsley, while Cannon recovered to beat Cooke in 5 sets. Clark inflicted Shaw’s first defeat of the season and Rowley just edged past Waumsley in 5 sets. Clark completed a well deserved treble with a win over Cooke to put his side 5-2 up but Choughs hit back through Waumsley beating Cannon and Shaw beating Rowley to limit the Bay to a 5-4 win.

After a brilliant start to their first time in league table tennis in division 4,Chestfield Warriors 7 suffered their first defeat of the season against Dizzy Heights A. Yu Zhu disposed of Adam Jones in straight sets but Connor Russell hit back to share the first 4 sets with Thomas Zhu before he lost the decider. Russell had a similar match against Yu Zhu,failing again in the fifth set. Thomas Zhu piled on the misery with a 3-0 win over Jones and the rout was complete as the Heights took the doubles 3-1 for an overall 5-0 win.
Second placed in Division 4,Faversham C,have made a strong start in their fixtures. After 3 games, they are unbeaten and have lost only one tie and are just one point behind Warriors 7 with a game in hand.
