Teams struggling to find points in the singles league are having better successes in the doubles league as the latest league tables show. In the Premier division Iron Room A have emphasised their dominance in the doubles but are being hotly pursued by Choughs A in second slot and Choughs B in third place. The latter are 2 points behind Iron Room but have a game in hand. Herne Bay B occupy 4th place and they trail the leaders by just two points.Such is the intensity of the Premier league that just 6 points separate the top 8 teams.

Struggling 1st division side,Herne Bay C, are right up in 3rd slot in the doubles, just 2 points behind Iron Room B and 4 points behind Chestfield Warriors B. With just 2 defeats in the doubles the Bay’s performance in this competition has made a nonsense of their singles competition position.having conceded just 7 ends in their 7 games. Warriors sole defeat has been at the hands of Natives A,who themselves are well placed in 6th spot, just 5 points behind. Iron Room ‘s one defeat was, significantly, against Warriors but theiy will be hoping to reverse that result when the two sides meet in January.

Three of the top 4 sides in the singles league in division 2 occupy slots in the top four of the doubles league but the pole position is currently occupied by Blean Lions. Their first six games produced just two wins in the singles but an amazing six consecutive wins in the doubles.Since then they have lost in straight sets to Blue Lawn and Herne Bay F,leaving them just one point ahead of Herne Bay E and having played two games more.Blue lawn move into third place,4 points behind Lions.

The third division doubles competition is currently a battle between Warriors 4 and Warriors 5. Both are locked on 17 points and up until the sides met recently both teams had lost just one doubles match each. Their latest meeting produced a 3-0 win for Warriors 4 that sees them ahead on games won and they also have a game in hand over Warriors 5. Choughs F are in third spot, two points behind the leaders. Their recent game against Herne Bay J saw them emerge victors 3-0 in the doubles and oust the Bay from 3rd position into 4th ,but with the same points and a game in hand..

The Warriors teams rivalry in the doubles continues in division 4,with Warriors 7 leading, just one point ahead of Warriors 6.Both sides have lost just one match each .In third place, with the same number of points as Warriors 6 but an inferior games average are Herne Bay K..The Bay have beaten the leaders already this season but have lost to Warriors 6,so the race for the title will probably be between these 3 sides. 4th placed Faversham D on 13 points have already lost to both the top sides and will need to get a better result in the return games next year.
